Fake Permissions
Strip dangerous Discord permissions from moderators while still allowing them to use Sorea's moderation commands. This is one of the most powerful security features Sorea offers.
Why Use Fake Permissions?
Discord's native permission system is dangerous. When you give a moderator Ban Members orKick Members permission, they can use those powers through any bot, any API tool, or even Discord's built-in UI — completely bypassing your Anti-Nuke protections.
Fake Permissions solves this by removing the actual Discord permissions from moderator roles, and instead letting Sorea handle the permission checks internally. Moderators can still ban, kick, and moderate through Sorea's commands, but they can't abuse those powers through other means.
How It Works
You assign fake permissions to a role
Instead of giving your Moderator role the real Discord "Ban Members" permission, you assign it as a fake permission through Sorea.
Sorea strips the real permission
The role no longer has the actual Discord permission. Moderators can't ban through Discord's UI, other bots, or API tools.
Sorea handles the action internally
When a moderator uses /ban through Sorea, Sorea checks if they have the fake permission and executes the action on their behalf.
Full protection achieved
Your moderators can do their job, but only through Sorea — which means Anti-Nuke can monitor and limit their actions.
Available Fake Permissions
The following Discord permissions can be replaced with fake permissions:
Ban Members
Allows banning and unbanning members through Sorea only.
Kick Members
Allows kicking members through Sorea only.
Manage Channels
Prevents channel creation/deletion through Discord, only via Sorea.
Manage Roles
Prevents role manipulation through Discord, only via Sorea.
Manage Server
Prevents server setting changes through Discord.
Manage Messages
Allows message deletion through Sorea's bulk delete only.
Important
Make sure Sorea's role is above the moderator roles in your server's role hierarchy. Otherwise, Sorea won't be able to execute actions on behalf of moderators.
Setup
You need Administrator permission to configure Fake Permissions. This feature is accessible through the Anti-Nuke panel.
Open the Anti-Nuke panel with /antinuke panel and select Fake Permissions from the dropdown menu. From there you can assign fake permissions to any role in your server.
Best Practices
- Always use Fake Permissions together with Anti-Nuke for maximum protection
- Remove real Ban/Kick permissions from all moderator roles and replace them with fake ones
- Only give Administrator permission to the server owner — never to moderator roles
- Test the setup by having a moderator try to ban through Discord's UI (it should fail)
- Keep Sorea's role at the top of the role hierarchy for proper functionality
